I’ve wanted to write this post for a while now because I think it’s really useful for the DIY SEO as well as those who are new to the industry to have a one stop shop for finding the best industry leaders to follow. A big chuck of my knowledge of the industry has been accumulated by following the Tweets, blogs, and other profiles of the group listed below. Despite the horrifically photo-shopped, creepy, fake, baseball cards, I hope you find it useful, and please add your SEO all star recommendations by commenting below!

1. Rank Fishkin
Rand in the CEO of a little software company called SEOmoz.  The value of the moz blog simply cannot be overstated, and should really be the starting point for any DIY or noobie SEO. You can follow Rand on the following channels (although the moz blog is where you’ll want to turn for search specific information, as he tends to talk about more broad entrepreneurial and business topics on his other platforms):

Twitter
G+
LinkedIn
Personal Blog

2. Wil Reynolds
Wil is the founder of SEER Interactive, a digital marketing firm in Philadelphia. He has over 13 years of expierence in search marketing (which is a long-ass time in SEO) and shares a wealth of knowledge across his channels. Wil has spoken at top industry conferences, including MozCon 2012 (where I believe his presentation on RCS has shaped the direction of the industry for the foreseeable future). You can follow Wil on:

3. Paddy Moogan
I was about to leave Paddy off of this list, just because he is from the UK and that messes up my awesome baseball card idea, but I simply couldn’t. Paddy is a link building genius. Follow him:

4. Mike Blumenthal
Disclaimer: Mike really only focuses on Google Places and local search optimization. That being said, no one has their finger on the pulse when it comes to local SEO like Mike does. Follow him on Twitter to get the lastests updates from his blog, as well as links to other useful local search resources.

6. Mike King
Mike is the head of inbound marketing at iAcquire, and I believe does some freelance work for SEOmoz as well. Mike is the man to follow for all things content strategy. He’s also a damn talented rapper. He contributes frequently to the moz blog and has spoken at several industry conferences, including MozCon, SMX, and LinkLove. Follow him:

7. Jon Cooper
I am so jealous of this dude because he’s like 15 (seriously though, he’s 19), and he has already gained the respect of some of the big shots in the industry with awesome link building posts like this and this. Despite his youth, I had to include him on the list, if for no other reason than his creative and actionable link building tips. Check him out:

8. Danny Sullivan
Danny is the editor of Search Engine Land. His expierence and expertise is really unmatched, although his daily shares arent quite as actionable as this rest of the folks on this list. Never-the-less, he is a good follow for high level search news, as well as general tech news.

9. Joanna Lord
Joanna is the Director of Acquisition at SEOmoz. You won’t get a lot of link building insight from her, but she is THE resource for conversion rate optimization and other on-page techniques. Find her here:

10. AJ Kohn
AJ is the Google+ master, and that’s why he made this list. The importance of G+ in the context of SEO is not yet understood by many, and if you are new to the game AJ’s insights will help you gain a base knowledge of G+, and how you can use it to enhance your SEO efforts. Plus, this image is freakin awesome. Don’t act like it’s not…
